What is this week's blog about?

In this week’s blog, we chat to David Mulindwa MRICS MCIArb RSU FISU. He is a geospatial and big-data specialist, RICS Accredited Mediator, RICS Registered Expert Witness, Partner at Naviloca Consult and Business Development Manager at EagleCORS.

Property Elite were proud to support David in his journey to becoming a Chartered Surveyor. Find more about his journey below...

1.     Why did you want to become a Chartered Surveyor?

Becoming a Chartered Surveyor was a natural choice for me after completing my BSc degree. I was driven by a deep-seated desire to align myself with an institution renowned for its unwavering commitment to high professional standards, and RICS was the perfect fit. Despite the initial daunting nature of the APC process, I was determined to pursue this path.

Moreover, I harbored a strong aspiration to engage in projects both within my homeland and abroad. It soon became evident that most coveted projects required the expertise and credibility that only a professional qualification could provide. Thus, my journey to becoming a Chartered Surveyor was not just a personal ambition; it was a strategic move towards fulfilling my professional dreams.

2.     Has getting qualified made a difference to your career? If so, how?

Absolutely, achieving Chartered Surveyor status has profoundly impacted my career in several compelling ways. Firstly, it has elevated my standing within the surveying community in Uganda, earning me recognition and respect among peers and fellow professionals.

Furthermore, the journey toward qualification was a profound learning experience, equipping me with invaluable skills that I actively apply within my profession today.

Perhaps most notably, the qualification has significantly expanded my career horizons. In Uganda, where the number of chartered surveyors is limited, it has opened doors to a plethora of new job opportunities. Consequently, I've become a highly sought-after professional, enjoying a level of demand and career growth that was previously beyond my reach.

3.     What was the best thing about working with Property Elite?

Working with Property Elite was a game-changer in my journey toward RICS APC qualification. The standout feature was the supportive and conducive learning environment created by their dedicated counsellor.

Their meticulous attention to detail and expert guidance in reviewing my drafts and case study not only helped bridge critical gaps but also brought out the best in my submissions.

Through this partnership, I gained the confidence and clarity needed to navigate the complex requirements of the RICS APC process, ultimately setting me on the path to success. Property Elite's invaluable support played an instrumental role in my achievement, making them an indispensable asset in my professional journey.

4.     What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not at work?

Outside of work, my passions diversify. As a dedicated football fan, I relish watching Manchester United in action. When the football season is on a break, I indulge in the thrilling world of blockbuster sci-fi movies at the local 3D cinema, a delightful escape from the everyday grind.

5.     Do you have any advice for other candidates?

My advice to fellow candidates: choose your support team wisely, especially your counsellors. They play a pivotal role in your journey to becoming a Chartered Surveyor. The right support team is essential for success.
