What is today's blog about?

This week, we look at why ethics are an essential part of your RICS APC or AssocRICS assessment.

These are tested throughout your assessment, but specifically within the Conduct Rules, Ethics and Professional Practice ('old' pre-August 2018 pathways) and Ethics, Rules of Conduct and Professionalism ('new' post-August 2018 pathways).

You can also listen to our CPD podcast on Anchor for more free AssocRICS and RICS APC training and support.

If you don't have time to read the blog today, make sure you bookmark it for later and just watch our 1 minute summary below.

Why is this important?

Ethics are an essential part of your RICS APC and AssocRICS assessments. They underpin every part of your professional practice, ensuring that you are able to advise clients professionally and ethically.

In your RICS APC final assessment, you will be questioned on the Conduct Rules, Ethics and Professional Practice ('old' pre-August 2018 pathways) or Ethics, Rules of Conduct and Professionalism ('new' post-August 2018 pathways) competency.

A failure on an ethics question will constitute an automatic fail, irrespective of your performance across the rest of your interview.

This means that you need to know the breadth and depth of relevant ethical issues inside out, including explaining how you might act in a variety of different situations.

How can I prepare myself?

We provide free revision quizzes, including one on ethics - which you can access by clicking here. So, don't let yourself down at your final assessment interview by not being prepared!

You can also use the search function in our blog archive to read about a wide variety of ethical issues and current hot topics.
